Machine purpose
The machine is designed for working with elastic and knitted fabrics, sewing sportswear and ballroom dresses, finishing the edges of T-shirts and sleeves, decorative finishing of garments, and sewing on elastic and belt loops.
Leader ArtMaster VS 500D can handle challenging fabrics such as biflex, single jersey, and fleece.
Types of stitches
The machine offers 7 types of coverstitches: 3- and 2-needle stitches, as well as a two-thread chain stitch with one needle. All stitches with recommended settings are displayed on the machine body.
- 3-needle coverstitch.
- 2-needle wide stitch — left and right needles.
- 2-needle narrow stitch — left and center needles.
- Chain stitch — left needle.
- Chain stitch — center needle.
- Chain stitch — right needle.
Settings and ease of use
The stitch length and differential feed regulators are conveniently located on the right side of the user.
The stitch length is adjustable from 0.5 to 4 mm.
The differential feed is adjustable from 0.5 to 2.0.
Adjusting the differential feed is necessary when stretching or gathering the material. If the regulator is set to 1, both feed dogs will move synchronously and feed the fabric evenly. The fabric will not stretch or gather.
To create a stretching effect, set the regulator to 0.5. To prevent the fabric from stretching, switch the regulator to a value close to 2.0.
A presser foot pressure regulator is provided for working with dense fabrics.
The maximum presser foot lift with locking is 6 mm.
The maximum sewing speed of the coverstitch machine is 1200 stitches/min.
Additional LED lighting brightly illuminates the sewing work area.
Threading and safety
The machine provides convenient and open access for threading the looper. A detailed color threading diagram for all threads is located under the hinged looper compartment cover.
Following the threading sequence affects stitch formation. The looper thread is threaded first, followed by the needle threads.
When the looper compartment cover is open and the presser foot is raised, the machine's automatic safety lock is activated, protecting it from damage.
